Grand Fisherman’s Cottage

Experience a Maine custom home that reflects the owner’s one-of-a-kind talent.

Inspired by a fisherman’s cottage, this beautiful Maine custom home is the owner’s dream-come-true. This second home needed to be a true coastal getaway for the owner. By combining traditional beach house features such as cedar shingles and green shutters with non-traditional aspects such as custom-made curved doors in the dining room, the owner truly made this home his own.

The home’s design incorporates interesting angles of the beach cliffs, reflected in the triangle dormers and custom windows. A highlight of the house is the spectacular circular light well extending from the second floor to the basement. It creates an open, airy feel throughout the entire structure. Outside, the long covered porch with double pillars invites friends and neighbors to linger and enjoy the view.

Part of the music industry, the owner requested personal features such as a granite amphitheater carved into the landscape and a frieze board on the front entry carved with the name of a Beatles song. Hardscaping design set the large granite steps into the sloping hillside toward the water. Wright-Ryan Millwork was commissioned to build the custom kitchen, bath, and built-ins throughout the home.
