About
Our team delivered four new wood-framed apartment buildings for juniors and seniors at Bowdoin College, all built to meet Passive House Certification standards. Together, the buildings house 88 students in suite-style units configured for four, six, or eight occupants, each featuring private bedrooms, full kitchens, and spacious common areas. Constructed on a tight and fully occupied campus, the project required careful coordination and smart planning. To address a volatile market and complex site conditions, Wright-Ryan partnered early with a site subcontractor and collaborated with Design-Assist MEP teams to ensure accurate phasing, pricing, and constructability throughout the project.
Sustainability
Achieved Passive House Certification through thick insulation, triple-pane windows, and high-efficiency air-exchange systems, the project is expected to deliver a 54% reduction in energy use for Bowdoin.
