Reducing the environmental impact of building through creativity and thoughtfulness
Named The Ridge House because it was built onto a spine of bedrock to reduce the overall environmental impact, this home is a unique blend of artistic flare and thoughtfulness. Steel beams soar from the moss covered ground mimicking the trees surrounding the contemporary structure while the exterior of the home is sheathed of copper, allowing it to blend into its surroundings. This home won the Maine AIA Design Award in 2003, was featured in Portland Magazine in May 2005 and televised on New England Dream House in August 2005.
